Reflection material: doesn't work

Post by dsp_418 » Tue Jan 02, 2007 11:52 pm

I'm trying to create a simple reflection shader like this:

or this:
http://www.indigorenderer.com/blender_tut/specular1.jpg

As the tutorial says, I've to turn on the Ray Transp, but I don't get that result. It doesn't reflect anything: by the way I've added some plane on the scene oriented toward the main object those act as emitters lights.
Moreover if I try to use the Ray Mirror the result is totally black.
Any hint?

Ok, it seems I've fixed a bit: now it reflects, but the emitter light appears as a black shader ...

What do your materials look like? (Preferably the XML)

Do you have a sun lamp? If so, many people have problems getting emitters and lamps working together, due to the differences in brightness.

Yes, I've a sun lamp.
To see the emitters object working properly I've to export as background and not as sunlight ... this sounds weird, since in those images it seems there's a sunlight as well.

Hi dsp_418,

have a look on this post:
http://www.indigorenderer.com/joomla/fo ... .php?t=768

Right now you can only change some value in the XML file manualy, to achieve some good results when you combine mesh emitters with sunlight.
it will not work with the actual blender exporter, sorry. :(
