Hey Dr,

Here are 2 tests with the fresnel lamp: first one is the lamp @ 8 meters, and second one is @ 16 meters.

So I guess this basically shows that the the closer the lamp, the softer the shadow but you will probably have to lower the power a bit.

PS. Great renders!!

How the hell did you modeled the chair ?
Basically, it's a net duplicated along a curve.
Once you've got he curve and the the net modelled, it's a matter of two clicks (in blender).

@Ono-Sendai : wow, a word from the master himself !

two small, quick, tiny updates : I'm playing with blender's softbodies... To my surprise, they work quite well for cloth simulation. Welcome fabrics, curtains, clothes and towels !
second one is a parquet floor test, nothing special.
@manitwo : I posted a higher resolution one in the gallery

@rusted : here you are.
The yellow planes are lamps and the black planes are for reflections.

@manitwo : the vases are a phong material (exponent = 60, ior=1.09)

Some more tests...
Yes, actually half of thoses posts should belong to some "indigo tests" subforum, but... it's a wip right ?
So here are some material tests :

First, an attempt to get sss petals.
As it's not possible to use a texture on sss materials, I blend two materials : one textured diffuse and one white sss.
The blend map is uniform grey, so the blended material is 50% diffuse and 50% sss.
Regarding the sss material, I have absolutely no idea if the values I use are physically corrects, I just played with them until I got something visually good.
It is a specular transparent (Rvb gain = 17000, ior=1), with uniform sss (value = 5000).
So the result *seems* correct, althought It's somehow biased.

I'll try to blend two sss materials (one white and one pink) with a real transparency map to see if it's better. (don't know if it's possible).
EDIT : damn, it doesn't seem to work... :(

btw the petals are not flat.

Second is a some fabric test :
On the left is a blend material of textured diffuse and gold.
On the right the same with some alpha map.

And last... a book wich was not that simple to model.

Well, all of this should be in the next scene.
That's all for now !
