Yes the second is amazing.. I would love to see a higher-res version! :o

Perhaps a different HDRI / floor though..

The background is a solid color with a shitty jungle picture composited in as a background (actually, it's a part from another rendering with trees, I was just too lazy/too short on time to actually create a scene/surroundings for the exterior).

A shot from a furniture scene. I'm building up a little library of furniture to use in projects, taken from previous projects, to take stock of what I have and to basically have a single source to go to for accessories so I don't have to dig up old project files.

Tweaking a leaf material, then went bugshit with light layers.

Some instancing renders again. This time, instead of scattering trees, I scattered buildings.

This is my first Indigo render, just a few simple objects in a simple room. I am having some trouble though. This image was rendered for 18 hours on i7-860 with 4 gigs of RAM and it still looks quite noisy, especially floor and the chair. The room is lit by sky through a window, in which I placed an exit portal. I used MLT with BiDir for rendering. Any tips for reducing noise and getting better performance are much appreciated.

Hi Lucidic!
..it seems a little noisy, indeed.. With such an hardware I'd expected a 5/6 hours rendering. And smooth result.

I think you can optimize your scene in two ways:
1. I'd lower a little the floor's bump value: seems too high at the moment, and it can act over rendertimes
2. try to detach all the objects from the groung, a microgap will do the job (like 0.0001m)

Try this and render again. Let us know!

I love the chair, great modeling and materials.

That's a really nice scene! 18 hours does seem unusually long for that resolution... perhaps the strong bumpmapping isn't playing nicely with MLT as Pibuz suggested, in a simple scene like this bidirectional without MLT should be better. Also it doesn't look like you're using any supersampling - in this case I suggest using the smooth Gaussian splatting filter to reduce the harsh aliasing, but ideally you'd use some supersampling as well.

As a point of comparison, hopefully more typical of Indigo's performance, I've been rendering a scene of Pibuz's (check out his "Green Living" thread) for about 40 hours on my i7 and get this result: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3038174/sunsky% ... 0100CD.jpg (There is still some noise, I think another day will do to clean it up; it rendered for longer, but the lighting is more complex and the resolution is much higher)

Thanks for the tips guys. One noobish question: where the heck do I change supersampling? I am using Cindigo.

It's in the Cindigo camera tag > output section
