ok well it looks like smartden is very very busy  so i'll ask if there is anyone else interested in doing this wiki update?
------------------------------------------------------------
For my part I thought I might do some short flash tutorials
Attached here is a first attempt at one just to see if it is a good size to view and for the experience :?
It shows the SW variant - the include feature isnt in Blendigo yet but wedges exporter has something similar 8)
The images were scaled 75% smaller afterward to fit a browser better and lost some detail but I think its ok?
Aside from the obvious mistakes, uncertainty and need of better preparation is this format ok?
I apologise for my Kiwi accent if it is hard to follow - I hope the speaking speed is ok..
and who was I speaking to? my neighbours dog which wandered in as I started  lesson 1 shut the door

EDIT: ok I have removed this before too many people get confused by the fact this isnt in blendigo
Thanks to those of you who took time to view it and comment
If I do some more I promise to take time to make a better job of it :D

I like the flash videos ;)
As these tutorials are for beginners (?) you could perhaps start with the default blender settings(?).

I think for a tutorial we need to start much earlier.
Here is an example of how to install indigo on linux.
If you like it, I can do some more, like installing blendigo and first steps.
I know the sound is much too low and only available in german

EDIT: update

@macrob
Very good ,...pity I dont speak German
Yes I would need to do more starting from the installation but it was only a trial I was doing.
Please by all means do some more.
If we get a series going perhaps the admin will make a nice space for them in the downloads and others will contribute some as well as they feel inspired..
I think new users would be very happy to see these.
We need easy to follow information to help people get started and understand how to make use of the features with some hints and tips.
I would like people to volunteer some resource they feel happy to do rather than have me chasing around asking for wiki updates etc. which seems pretty futile
So long as there is helpful information available I dont think it matters about the format - or the language :D

to the rest of the community
I see 12 people downloaded my trial but no one commented..except kram in chat -thanks
this is weird...why is this? it stinks then? everyone sits on their backsides and says nothing but with hands out for free stuff stupidly shared by people?

Hi Big fan,
The flash video tutorial format definitely works very nicely.
I agree with Macrob,
a tutorial starting from a default blender install, installing blendigo, and exporting a scene to indigo would be awesome.
We would need one in english, and probably one for linux, and one for windows.

Hi Kram! It´s just XVID and mp3. My WMP under XP does not crash.
I can post the original Theora/Vorbis/Ogg version

@ Ono
I can try to do a Blendigo install vid, but my spoken english would not help to understand it better. Just turn the sound off

Big Fan, is there any sense to render using exported files (xml or igs) if blendigo let you render directly from blender? or blendigo has no all that possibility as Indigo does?

ps. nice video))

@sfepa
I am not sure I understand you but..
In this particular experimental video I was showing how to export layers to 'include' in a render which you would start manually from the controller .igs in Indigo. It would be possible to auto run that from blender at the end as usual but I havent made that yet
The reason you would make 'includes' is because blender runs out of memory in 32bit when exporting very big scenes...and also Indigo is limited in the size of file it can load as well
You can get around this by breaking your scene into smaller parts and 'including' them in the render
Probably this was not a good subject to make a video about now because the capabilty I demonstrated isnt built into blendigo yet and may be different when it is
Sorry to cause confusion
Indigo does have the include function already but you need to edit the files out of blendigo manually to have it work like that

Big Fan, tnx for explanation! i'll bear it in mind! ))
but in case when you need to render a small scene, can i do everything with blendigo?
sorry for my question, but i'm new in indigo.

Yes, except for resuming. That you have to do directly with indigo

Code: Select all

indigo.exe YOUR-igs-file -r YOUR-igi-file
Don´t forget to enable "save igi" in the system tab

hmmm...I have been experimenting again but unless I split the topics up into very basic steps I dont think I can keep these small enough to upload < 4mb zip allowed...6mb might be ok...also I wonder if people on dial up are happy to download say even 8mb videos or flash? or if ono is ok with maybe a lot of downloads of a larger size?
say 5 in series of 8mb download 250 times = 10gb

Don't worry about the amount of traffic, I'm nowhere near the limit I think.
It's true that Flash video isn't the most accessible format, for people on dialup, strange linux distributions, deaf, etc..
However some tutorials are always better than nothing!
If you're hitting the upload limit on the forums, you can always send me the file directly (somehow), and I can post it.
