not so much about the symmetry, more to do with the quality of the image, i would fumble with the details. also its a bit "old" for my taste

dare i say the coffee would taste rusty

Hi Matsta, I think I'd post this here since it's your live technical modeling thread. Still early WIP.
I've added a weight map to the base to give it a slightly worn feel. There are scratches on the base metal plate, as in the ref photo, but not on the other metals. I still need to tweak my SSS mats. Mainly higher gain, I guess, but it's hard not to hit that stop when the mats turn black.

Nice work, gentlemen. As a career mechanical CAD designer, I never thot anyone would actually want to model pneumatic cylinders
just for fun <sotto voce> especially when you can just download most of them as 3D models already from places like
www.partspec.com or mcmaster.com! </sotto voce> but, to each his own, I guess!
Nice work turning the technical into art!

@mzungu: so maybe you can download them but then where would the sense of satisfaction be in doing that? I don't use any models made by others...only my own.
I am currently very much enjoying the challenge of modeling pneumatic cylinders using nothing but hand wound polys (no booleans or other such tools) and the bevel center script in blender
Real men model with polys
