The eye works in a very different way, there is a lot or processing done before the signals go through the optic nerve.

It's almost amazing that we can see anything at all - the human eye is a TERRIBLE camera.
It's just that the CPU we have, filtering the signal, is excellent.

not really - it's not a CPU; It's MULTIBLE:
the whole seeing center (and all the others, too), is made of millions of CPUs - 1 Neuron = 1 core
The resolution of the eye isn't bad at all, and also the colour range and detail in colour is great. Not toooo good is the fps - it could be much higher. (But if it was, games where much laggier or much more expensive xD)

a cpu also isnt
one piece of metall (combination from thousands of transistors and whatnot ...)

but a tiny cell is the same as a tiny - but still much bigger - core

i dont think machines will match the human eye for some time, at least not in realtime graphics. cuz the eye dont have to worry about poly count or textures
