Ok now that i had the chance to chat with Nick...
exporting will be much faster .. i managed to get textures working with
3ds export... so now we can use full 3ds export which is much much faster....there are still some issues with resetting trans form before exporting to 3ds as in some cases ,especially imported objects form other 3ds packcges the transform is wrong and the 3ds export will be wrong as well---- so thats it along with some other improvements
this will be the new update...soooon.
cheers

cool news! but also take into account the 64k vertex limit the 3ds format has got, so scenes can't be too complex. 3ds is the original format created by 3dstudio (DOS days) and still remains having the limitations of those days (64k vert limit, filename no longer than 8 characters). Dunno how much of this may affect the exporting process to Indigo. Oh yup, and also sometimes mesh info gets messed up on export.
Anyway, any news on your wonderful exporter is good news

aaaaaahhh! It's a kind of magic!
thanks U3dreal. Can't wait to try your new stuff out. I suppose plans are to release it with next official version, right? Or will there be a beta?

Very good news U3dreal. I was off for some time and now i'm trying new features. I must say that you're making a great work with your exporter. Maybe I can add a little bit with the material conversion and a "pre-process" of objets with more than 64k faces.

Ok 64k problem solved...
200000 faces each object. so 800000 faces.. export time 3sec...
Added textures will be copied to indigodir automatically
cheers
