I need tip: What version of Blender to use

As two of my primary apps are not supported that well, Maya and XSI, I need tip for Blender.
What is best version to use with Indigo, 2.5 or 2.49 or whatever else?

I just can not dig that information easily, I see several threads but I do not know what is best way to go.
So if anyone with experience can help, I will appreciate.

The most stable and usable combination at the minute is Indigo 2.4.8 + Blender 2.49b + Blendigo 2.4.8.

The exporter for Blender 2.5 is still in the Beta stages, and is not fully complete.
