I wonder if Arne would like to enable registration + logins on his site so that it could be used as-is?

I know there was a plan to integrate it into Joomla, but why not just use it as it is?

If he doesn't want it "live" on his server, I'd be happy to host it instead.

It'd save Joe having to re-invent it all...

That would be an idea. Actually, I was wondering myself, why it's not the case, at least for now...

Arne?
Ono?

Obviously a mat DB site would rock, and it will happen eventually.
It can eventually be hosted on the indigorenderer.com server as well.
Integrating with the current Joomla install would be optimal in order to share logins etc.., but It may pay to go the easy route and just use a differnt MySQL database for the materials + user accounts.

just out of curiosity, does the phpBB installation here use the Joomla database, or is it separate and Joomla borrows information from the phpBB database?

I ask because I've reverse engineered phpBB before to integrate with a site-wide login system. I have code that can initiate phpBB login sessions and use userinfo from a user that is logged into phpBB.

edit: actually, it comes down to including just 2 phpBB files:

Code: Select all

require_once($phpbb_root_path . 'extension.inc');
require_once($phpbb_root_path . 'common.php');

I think that there are two user databases, kept more or less in sync :)
Radiance set this stuff up so I'm not entirely sure.

Well I really don't mind reinventing the whole thing, I thought about this a couple months ago to do it for myself in an off-mode way and have my own private DB with my personalized model, so I decided to do it for all, the amount of work will be the same anyway, but I decided to host it on my box for those who would like to use it. I just want a nice MatDB taking shape in this community. It will surely help a lot of newbies on the block.

But it would be nice to see a DB integrated on the same indigo server as Ono mentioned.

Hi all!
I've been asked to put one of my floor mats here, so that's it!
I attach the final image for you to have an idea of what the floor is like!

It cooked for over 40 hours on a dual core machine!
A little post-pass in Violet, obviously!

Hope you like it!

Cheers to everyone! :D

I like it :) The floor is very good, but if I may say a little crit, I would say that the joints should be diffuse. I've the feeling they are specular actually.

Maybe a blend map would help ?

Hi Stur!
You're right, the joints should be opaque..

I'm just playing around with the basic settings of Indigo: i'm a novice user (i know indigo since a week), and i'm a little confused about the correct use of blend materials..

It's a promise for the new year!

:D :D :D

:)

Well, in fact it's very simple. You just need to draw a black map with white joints.

Lets say your actual material is A.

Do another material (lets say B) with your bump map too, but diffuse and grey.
Then, create a third material, which is a blend of A and B using your blend map.
Maybe your ground will appear diffuse grey with specular joints  In this case, just invert A and B.

Hope I'm clear.
