two ways (both possible to use at the same time)
either, you set more than one renderthread
or you resume the render, after stopping it.
In both cases, you get new seed values
if you resume a render with more than one thread (the combined way), you get both effects, at once
I *guess*, if the pic doesn't seem to develop anymore, you need to resume (== use new seed values) - as long as that doesn't happen, you should go on rendering....
I wonder, if there is a "change appearance check" formula, that gives the change of the image over time. if the result is lower than a given value, new threads get started...

Unfortunately, Vux, I'm afraid you may have to reconfigure your mind-set instead of Blender and learn to see Z as up/down and Y as backward/forward. I don't believe it can be reconfigured within Blender.
The hardest part of BEING yourself is FINDING yourself in the first place...
