Proper Geometry for Windows?

Post by crsrma » Wed Jul 25, 2007 11:49 pm

Should they be modeled as they truly are? As in, two separate, spaced sheets of glass... or something simpler, like a single polygon?

I don't have a great handle on dealing with glass in Indigo yet. :)

Wow, that was quick. Thanks, will do. Yes, normals seem very important too. :)

it is a good habit to model everything as closed volume, and take care to normals, especially if you plan to render it with indigo

Thanks, good advice. I got used to modeling that way in Wings, sort of forced to, it makes a lot of sense anyway.

I found my earlier problem, though, was because I was sloppy smoothing my window objects, my rendering issues cleared up once I noticed. Along with geometry, it helps to be mindful of smoothing groups as well. ;)
