Welcome to indigo
All scene data in indigo is saved in an "xml" type file data, now named with an .igs extension, you must open the scene file (exported with your 3D app indigo exporter) with a text editor and there you apply the mods or paste that code into your scene, for example when you want to edit materials you must look under the material tags in the file, to tweak xml files in a much easier and faster way I recommend using a program to edit this type of files like XML Marker because it shows you the whole tree and sections of the scene data.
Just read through the forum, go to the Documentation section of the site, and whatever you don't understand or can't find information for go ahead and ask.
Good Luck!
