Sorry, I should have clarified that the variation I posted was actually two different versions of the same logo - one on a white background, and one reversed out. They weren't intended to be used side by side.

Indigo reminds me of.... purple. Why not have a purple logo for something that means blue. That makes 100% sense to me. Dont you agree. Why dont we render the logo in Maxwell while we are at it?

I like the first one, second is just a bit too much indigo

Black letters jump out more and there is more contrast thanks to that black lettering.

I would like to see if it's possible that this logo or other logo tries would be done in inkscape since it's cross-platform and open source, some people don't have adobe (I don't use it anymore), and sometimes importing doesn't work properly.

I've converted the entire logo to vector format (based on the large PNG file posted above by arneoog).

Below are three versions:

1. Closest to the original, and closest to true (spectral, or electric) indigo color:

2. Simpler logo, color is pigment (paint, or print) indigo:

3. Slightly stylized version, gradient from electric indigo to pigment indigo:

Any thoughts?

BTW: color references came from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indigo.

Nice, Cire! :D
I love those :D :P
I like the top and bottom ones the most ;)

(I think it's perfect!)

EDIT: The Bottom one is best, and would get my vote! :D

Actually, "indigo" is typically somewhere between blue and purple. My original version probably had too much of the latter. I've attached the files to the end of this post, so you're more than welcome to redo it in whichever shade you had in mind and repost it for the rest of us (or render it in Maxwell, if you're still feeling constructive).

Done, see below.

I reversed it out of the same color I picked for the logo in the regular one. I don't much care what color we pick, so long as we use it consistently. In general, you're only going to use the reversed out logo over dark backgrounds, so it would just be the white bit itself over whatever color happens to be underneath it in your image.

The attached file has both versions of the logo in Illustrator format as well as standard SVG (which I presume is what Inkscape uses). Let me know if you have any problems with them.

I like the middle one, with the simplified logo. Good call on switching the "renderer" bit to a lighter shade - I opted to use a lighter shade of indigo instead for the sake of contrast, but your solution works well. You could probably go darker with it in the top version if you want to stay close to spectral indigo. I do have to object to the gradient version, on principle, but it looks like I'm alone on that.

:D

Here's both logos in both formats:
