render resolution and DPI

Post by Juju » Tue Nov 20, 2012 3:09 am

The render resolution can be set using the Indigo exporter, the standard DPI output is 96 DPI, where do I set / change this to another DPI that I would prefer?

render resolution and DPI

In your exporter of choice, or when in the Indigo GUI in the upper right corner of. The right panel. Change the selection to "Render settings" or so. I am not on my computer and Indigo does not run on my phone, so perhaps explore the software for a couple of hours before posting questions like this ;-)

I've been through the render settings a few times, I'll have a look, not sure how I missed this then. Thanks.

render resolution and DPI

You know that DPI is rather unimportant for digital output.
An image of 1924x1080 with 300dpi is the same like in 72dpi.
Cheers, David

DPI seems to be the least understood term in digital media.... true story!

In the Indigo GUI you have to load a scene first to see the right hand panel with the render settings show up.
Just use one of the sample scenes that come with Indigo. Where these are located depends on with what operating system you are working.

Once loaded there will be a panel to the right of the render viewport and under "Render settings" "Image settings" is already pre-selected and shows the render resolution in pixels. As other's have already commented, DPI does not make a lot of sense in this case.

If you have an image with 20x10 pixel, and change your resolution from 10 to 20 dpi, your target size will change from 50,8x25,4mm to 25,4x12,7mm. So if you want a specific dpi, you also need the target size to calculate the needed pixels...
