Can you preset rendering times?

Post by buzzkill » Fri Feb 25, 2011 11:00 am

Is it possible to set your renderings to automatically stop after X amount of time? There are many times where I am rendering an object a few different times (each model varying slightly from the other). I might have 3 models that need rendering and say I only have time in the day to do the first 2 at say 5 hours each. I would like to have the 3rd model render over-night...just not all night long. I would like to set the rendering time to 5 hours to match the quality of the other 2. This may not be possible yet but seems like it would be an easy addition to future releases.

yes, it is possible. In indigo called halt parameters.
You can define a target SPP value or a value in seconds.
Per default both settings are set to -1,
No idea where they are hidden in Skindigo.
The manual knows for sure :)

I see where in "render settings" it says halt (value -1) and you can select seconds or SPP. Can you help me understand these terms a little better? The manual is kind of vague. If I change the halt value is that considered the number of seconds if seconds are selected rather than SPP?

Actually I just answered my own question. I set halt to 59 and it stopped after 59 seconds. So in my original question i will just change the halt to 18,000 and after 5 hours I will have a perfect rendering.

Thank you for your help.
