Kerkythea developers introduce new renderer : Thea

Post by neo0. » Sun Aug 23, 2009 3:06 pm

My frustrations with Kerkythea were exactly what led me to indigo, but who know, their latest renderer might be different

As I know, all of this can be done in indigo too, with similar or better quality. Well, except may the laser thing. Im not sure, but does Indigo support volumetric dispersion yet?

Kerkythea defenitely brings back memories though.. Spending 2 weeks and producing something that looked like an N64 game and then producing something better with indigo after 5 minutes.

Something I made with kerkythea a few years ago.. lol.. The glass doesn't even look right nor does the metal.. The composition is also pretty half assed. xD

Yes, everyone knows that volumetric dispersion for cool laser effects is the number one requested feature for any renderer!

Anyway, Indigo does support volumetric scattering. (participating media scattering)

I've checked the forum again after a while and I'm impressed by the material system!

Are you talking about the renderings inside or the material editor?

You have to register, Wyt.

Just use these

I agree. The material system looks really neat as well.

That is a really nice interface that's for sure.

I really, really like the layer approach for materials!
Also regarding Interface design... well... comparing with Indigo is no fun here...

Yup I like it too. The blending stuff from Indigo is a pita when it comes to complex materials.
Then I've to blend a blend with a blend with a blend ... aaaargh! That's so sad cause the engine
is quite useful. ;o))

Indigo should be more like this.. More drag and drop, more interactive, etc.
