New competitor for Indigo ? P.U.R.E.

It's actually hard to compete with indigo imo. Here's why :
1) It's free (or atleast it has a free version.) How much does maxwell cost? Almost $1000 dollars. That's even more than photoshop.

2) It's very capable. Most renders are very similar in their quality, but to me indigo's lighting looks slightly more realistic than other renderers.

3) Ease of use. Almost every other rendering option takes much more time to learn how to use.
