Indigo thread autosense

Post by antialias » Wed Jan 31, 2007 2:27 am

Indigo should be able to detect the number of CPU´s
Amount of CPU´s= Number of Threads

Hmm... I am not to happy about this idea... I usually only use thread on indigo for my testrenders so I can continue on the project while it renders... But maybe just set indigo to use the maximum threads the comp allows as default and then let the user change it if he wishes...

Yea. I like to use my computer on the other thread as well. It only needs to be set once if you want to use more than one so why you complaining?
Everyone else is doing it so : Core 2 duo E6600, 2 gb ram, Nvidia 8800 640 GTS and 250 gb hd

Ok the option should be:
t=0 => number o threads = number of cpu´s
t=1 => 1 thread
t=2 => 2 threads

This makes it much easier, when rendering with multiple machines.

Hi,

The actual tag is:

Code: Select all

<renderer_settings>
	...
	<num_threads>2</num_threads>
</renderer_settings>
I'm using it all the time, between 2 and 4 depending if hyperthreading is on or off :) but I agree it's better to set it manually, just to keep the choice.

If I get something decent I promise I'll show you ;) (resume fonction wanted :D )
