Hey guys,
I've finally found some time to finish a new pic. Here's what's probably going to be the last in the short series of sci-fi inspired images I've done in the past few weeks. It's a personal take on the inspiring work of Pablo Vincente. Unlike my most recent images, there is no compositing here. The image is pretty much straight out of Indigo (1.0.9 64 bits), with minor contrast corrections on PShop.
Most of it was modeled in Blender, except the torso and face, which were done in ZBrush starting from a makehuman basemesh.
EDIT: Added "SinCity" version for fun

Great image.
Though i have to agree with Kram. There's something unnatural about the skin.
Im not sure if this is on purpose, but i think it looks like wrong uv-mapping:

But that's just nit-picking. It's another amazing render from you.
OT: Tried Doom 64 (N64) yesterday. All things considered (age, technical restrictions) it was actually rather "scary". People must have been pooping their pants back when it came out. ^^

Thought the same thing! : DOnoSendai wrote:Reminds me of the guys from Doom 3.

aleksandera, there are two fake ways of doing that:
1) blending materials - could now even be a bit better, due to Oren Nayar... Who knows^^
2) compositing two renders
The "real" way has some problems to be solved first, before it can be done. Search forums and you'll find, what I mean
BbB: I think, I prefer the new version
- though, maybe a blend between them, where the red simply isn't *that* dominant would be a good compromise for dramatic realism

Hey guys. Yes, I think I also prefer the second one. I actually did a blend of the two on Photoshop, though it's on another computer right now so I'll post it later.
Aleks: You can have a textured SSS if you blend a textured diffuse or phong with a specular-SSS using a weight map derived from your albedo map. I couldn't do it here though as the body and head mesh is a mess, with holes and gaps everywhere. It just made my guy look like a lamp shade.
