Indigo test - architectura

Post by Tores » Thu Mar 04, 2010 10:09 pm

Hi
This is my first post and first tests in the indigo.
I see great potential for this engine but I have big problems with displacement.
Charges for large amounts of RAM and requires a thorough distribution of the grid. I miss the equivalent Vraydisplacement 2d.

Heya Tores, about the displacement: Indigo will subdivide the mesh where necessary on its own - maybe have a fiddle with the exporter settings for this to see if suits your needs?

That's a really cool church scene, I was just thinking of putting a dusty medium inside to produce those lovely "god rays" :) You would need to make the glass actual glass with some thickness and absorption (using the new absorption layer transmittance feature to texture/colourise it), and sunlight to beam through. It will be slow to converge right now, but soon we will have architectural glass which will tremendously accelerate this.

Another thing to do to improve the convergence is to cover the window hole with an exit portal (for much improved sampling).

lycium - thank you. Really I place in indigo first steps. I do not know possibility good setting displacement. I place 6 subdivs because really I see exact detail only this then it need about 8 Gb and sometimes more.
Glass and they will be water next in tests. I will check Exit portal also.
I am sorry for my English.

Don't worry about your English, it's not easy to speak multiple languages! Looking forward to your next tests :)
