Ronen Beckerman ‘The Museum’ Challenge

Post by Zom-B » Sat Jul 07, 2012 2:08 am

Hey Guys,

Ronen Beckerman started a new Challange based on Mies van der Rohe’s Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin.
The Challange is restricted to Maxwell renderings, so no free choice a weapons here :(

I decided to give it a try with Indigo anyway and hope for some great images for my Portfolio and a gain in skill regarding outdoor rendering.

maybe some of you are willing to give it a try too :)

here are the first WIP images:

I signed up and figured I'd do it in Indigo anyway for kicks, but I haven't got the time to devote to it, so I promptly backed out without so much as an attempt :/

Keep us updated with your progress!

I'm also keen to see updates on this scene, cheers for giving it a shot in spite of the restrictive rules Zom-B!

A trip to the sea over the weekend crushed my planes to work further on the scene -.-
Also that week will be quite full with work...
Seems like I started that thread to early :P

The church is a Googel Maps model with incredible low resolution textures ^^

I found some spare time between work to focus on more statues, Google Earth Buildings and some vegetation.
In the render you can see that the blocky Google Earth meshes with low res Textures are quite usable if you at least use some DOF blur ;)

The "Broken Obelisk" still needs some texture tweaking... darker & more saturated.
The Floor tiles are also still a placeholder... I would like to use some concrete plates with some random grass splatted in the grooves between them.

Sadly There is no option to use step blend for Alpha PNGs, therefor there is some evil noise in the trees...
