You can load .nk files from Blender if you select 'Preset' or 'File' from the 'NK Type' drop-down menu under Material Phong Settings.Zom-B wrote:its the measured NK file for aluminum, should be available for Phong materials (I'm not familiar with Blender so no further hints from me here ^^ )Oscar J wrote:What is al.nk? Is it available in the exporter, or in Indigo only?

Here's a rendering of an old Koenigsegg model of mine. Scene needs some more love, I'll try to rebuild it tomorrow, but I think the car paint turned out rather well.

Re: Oscar's rendering thread
The car paint was too bright, so I made it gray again. Alson fixed some minor flaws.

Slick image. Last one looks great. Some more context detailing would help, I think, especially if we see something out of the window (even if it's blown out, just a suggestion of *something* there would go a long way).
Love the curves on that baby

Thanks for your comment.
I'll try to fix it in PS. I agree that it looks a bit strange with the windows blown out like that. Currently working on that and a new render in a different angle.
I looked at your portfolio. Mighty impressive!

Re: Oscar's rendering thread
Very very cool... sexy car, awesome modeling and really convincing material.
The only minor thing that makes it distinguishable from a photo is the a bit repetitive wall texture (only shows close to the ceiling, really), the door that looks just a little to flat, and perhaps the ceiling that is a bit too reflective, but that's only me.
With "something" outside the windows I'd throw it to the gallery
I like your rendering thread, keep 'em coming!

Thank you for commenting. There are indeed a few things that aren't quite spot on, but with these two renders, I say farewell to this scene. I wan't to try something new.

Your carpaint is top notch
So how do you like Indigo compared to YafaRay? I gave it a shot some years ago due to its nice Blender integration/reputation within Blender community, but then didn't really follow its development since I sticked to Indigo...

Re: Oscar's rendering thread
It's easier to get realistic results in Indigo, but the Yafaray Blender exporter is far better than Blendigo. Less buggy and crashy. I managed to do some nice renderings within Yafaray, but in many ways it's more complicated, since there are more parameters and settings to understand and control in order to get good renderings. Yafaray isn't unbiased like Indigo.
Yafaray is free, however. I decided to purchase Indigo, as the price for me as a student is rather affordable, but I'm pretty sure I would have continued using Yafaray if there wasn't educational pricing available for Indigo. Yafaray really is a nice renderer.
Cycles renderer is crap IMO.

Here's a small test render of my Jaguar XJ200. Using the free HDRI from hdri-locations.com. Bigger render(s?) coming tomorrow.

Re: Oscar's rendering thread
The compositing is nice.
Somehow there are too many plain reflections on the car, the shading is killing the shape. Perhaps some bushes and a couple tree obstructing light or reflected by the car would add to the scene.
I see that in both series of renders you are using very large emitters, if not the plain environment. A more sophisticated lighting design would make justice to your models imho.
Nice renders of the "Koenigsegg" !

So... what do you suggest?CTZn wrote: I see that in both series of renders you are using very large emitters, if not the plain environment. A more sophisticated lighting design would make justice to your models imho.
Re: Oscar's rendering thread
Suggesting a more of a studio shot maybe? I kinda like the more realistic environment.CTZn wrote: I see that in both series of renders you are using very large emitters, if not the plain environment. A more sophisticated lighting design would make justice to your models imho.
Either way - great work Oscar. Looking forward to many more.
Re: Oscar's rendering thread
I am suggesting the addition of some objects around the car to give it's shape more readability. One different way to put it and since you can't change the car shape, what's left is to shape the emitters.Oscar J wrote:So... what do you suggest?CTZn wrote: I see that in both series of renders you are using very large emitters, if not the plain environment. Really I mean the critic to be constructive, do not mistake it for a "dislike" of any sort !
