Simple Renderings Thread
Re: Simple Renderings Thread
I started modeling this as a prop for larger scene, but it ended up looking pretty good, so i thought i'd post it here. I like the graininess + Kodachrome 64CD camera response function, it gives it kind of old-fashioned look.
The design is Alvar Aalto's Chair 43 from year 1937.

Re: Simple Renderings Thread
That's quite nice.
Re: Simple Renderings Thread
I like ti! great work,, but i think the fabric is too dark...less saturation
Re: Simple Renderings Thread
The darkness and the saturation both come with the response function. So no post processing here. I'll render clean version later - i've ordered a new computer, so it'll have to wait for it.

Ok i'm waiting the clean rendering
Good luck

A prop for a scene. Very simple setting.
It's a shame SU doesn't allow any kind of "advanced" UVmapping

Wow Pibuz, those are cool !
Re: Simple Renderings Thread
realy nice, hand made style
Re: Simple Renderings Thread
While waiting for my new computer, I modelled another Aalto's chair. This time it's Chair 41 "Paimio" from year 1931-32

Re: Simple Renderings Thread
Pibuz, that render looks so real, as if I'm staring at a real object and can almost touch them to feel their smoothness.

Pibuz - Superb. Love the DoF that you've used and props have a real organic feel to them. Excellent

Re: Simple Renderings Thread
A simple rendering of a maple tree I modeled in SketchUp. It was originally intended as a prop for a scene I am planning to model. The scene in mind would require a leafy tree branch partially blocking the view on a large window and at the same time casts shadows on the floor and furniture. I could not find the right tree model in the Google 3d warehouse so I ended up modeling it. The shape and form of the leaves needs more tweaking and I'm still experimenting with the type of leaf material to use.

Re: Simple Renderings Thread
Really cool tree model! For the leaf material, try setting the material to Phong with IOR=1.4. Then, set the SketchUp opacity to 50. This will automatically blend the Phong material with 50% diffuse transmitter. Your exponent should be pretty low, unless you want the leaves to look wet. Try 100 or something.Jeff wrote:A simple rendering of a maple tree I modeled in SketchUp. It was originally intended as a prop for a scene I am planning to model.
