I apologize in advance in case i'm wrong, but i doubt too. I don't see how to make it without textures, furthemore, the 450x502 format looks odd to me for a render.
It could be a post-pro croping however.

well..It can be without bitmaps if it's all modelled. also the head seems to be a bit too reflective for me.

The colour is too uniform to be a photo. there's no brown tinges anywhere. But I MUST SEE A WIRE :twisted:

This discussion, if it is not a photo, is a testament to the fantastic composition of this piece and the excellent software nick has created.

the only texture is the grass of course, mantis doesn't have any texture.
i'd like your opinion on the material, i want the mantis to reflect more, i suppose i just have to increase exponent value?
