My latest achievment
Hello everyone, I'v been stragling with indigo trying to reach some level of realism in my renders and I think I finaly reached first levels of it....this render took 10 hours and size of image is 5000x2500 but since I can't upload it I am posting a 2000x1000 one. Feel free to be honest with comments and critis, and offcourse advices are always welcome!

Hi Pikadili, nice work already!
What could be improved is definitely the sofa, right now it looks like just some bevelled rectangles, it needs some imperfections and some modelling instead of too much bevel.
The palm tree is nice, but the texture of the leaves doesn't convince me yet.
Also something very important when making glassware with liquids inside: always make sure that the liquid intersects the glass a little, the is a small tutorial in the manual on how to do it right.
The lamp is very cool btw! Just needs some more cooking.
Keep it up

Hey Poli, I totaly agree with your comments. I am still at begining with vegetaion rendering and soffa definetly need some leveling. About glass with wine, instead of intersecting I separeted wine from glass for 1mm. But the bigest problem is lighting couse this level of realism I succided to achieve only with big rectangles as emiters. In exterior I must use sun+env map which does not give so realistic looking... if you have some advises about it I'll be thankfull. I'm glad you like the lamp, I was really satisfied with it too when I designed it

Hey Pikadili89, welcome!
You're getting there, I agree with what Polinalkrimizei said, especially regarding the sofa, this takes away a lot of realism, there are a (few, very few) good ones on the 3D warehouse.
This collection has some usable ones: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/ ... a7&ct=mdcc
Also try to work a bit on lightning, I'd guess this is a cube with 2 open walls, putting a light inside the lamp
will also improve the overall mood.
Great furry carpet btw!
Keep it up, you're doing a great job so far!
EDIT: just read your previous posts, I'd try to use natural light instead of emitters, why did you choose for emitter planes? Maybe I could help you out

Re: My latest achievment
Hey FoXar, thanks for sofa collection, very useful I must say
. I used this sofa and armchair couse I designed and modeled them, I still need to put some leveling on the seating and back offcourse
. About the light, whenever I used natural light I couldn't achieve this realistic reflections and light in scene and I also couldn't get rid of the noise (even after 57 hours of rendering - this one took only 10 with plane emiters). Any tips about light properties would be really helpful
.Btw I had light layer for bulb inside lamp but I liked it more when its turned off
EDIT: Its a cube with out of one wall, env. settings are set to Sketchup background, black is checked. Only emiter is plane and lamp (which is turned off in this picture).

Looks good so far!
For better sofa models, take a look here: http://archive3d.net/
Theres hundreds of models on there, sofas included, all nicely modelled and in .3ds format which you can import into sketchup. Can take a while to import and convert the file, but stick with it and you should be able to get some far nicer models than the sketchup warehouse can provide.

Hey Bosseye, thanks for the site, I will certenly look into it but my bigest problem is light atm
.When I am using sun+env map I have to much noise which ruins photoreality of my render and when I am using plane emiters its kinda hard to make interior renders with view on outside (either when I want to show the view from the room or to catch a part of facade of object). I am student of architecture so this two elements are really important for my renders. Thanks for help mate, I apreciate it

You are using exit portals ?
If you just want to see " something" outside, perhaps the best approach is to use an environment map strictly for lighting in conjunction with exit portals. Then photoshop the view into the windows.
Also for that sort of interior renders Bidirectional or Bidirectional with MLT are better suited than path tracing. The brute force approach of path tracing even with GPU support starts loosing against more intelligent render methods when light sources get multiple and smaller and refractive materials are introduced.

Re: My latest achievment
Hey Headroom, no I don't use exit portals couse in all cases till now I had reflection of vegetation or facade, of my object, on inside element such as glass table, vaze or something. Each time I used exit portals, instead of that nice reflection I got white or light blue straight shapes which absolutly don't fit with rest of the interior and prity much ruin reality level I achieved in those renders.

It would help if you posted an image of your scene setup.
