I come here with a little request (i post it in this forum because i'm a sketchup user): would it be possible to add inside indigo the possibility of zooming in and out the image while it's rendering?
I know it's not a really important thing, but i find it useful :just to see the whole scene in one time, if it's bigger than the screen; i'm an architect, you know, and i often need to have ensemble views..
The other thing (which i badly called "competition" in the title) is a little idea bouncing in my head since some time ago.
I think it would really be interesting to see what happens if a bunch of people worked only upon materials and lighting starting from a common "white" scene. I mean: everyone should start from a scene without any material applied (all diffuse white); then each one should think what kind of mood he wants to get out of the scene and choose a brick material instead of a white plaster for the rear walls, for example, or giving the chair a plastic mat insead of a wood texture.. Simply work on material and lighting.
It would be interesting -in my opinion- because we all would be able to see what means the personal interpretation of a space. In the meanwhile, it could be possible to visualize solutions that can inspire us on other works, and ask about the settings of the materials that we love. You know, so many times a mat isn't that great, but with a very interesting surrounding it should seem perfect: starting from a common scene, this can't happen any more..
I thought about making up two scenes: one of an interior and one of an exterior (but also a space between them should be interesting: a patio, a court, an indoor-outdoor pool..): consider that i'm an architect, so i'm fond of architectural images
I think this kind of "competition" could involve all the users of Indigo's Forum in one time, but i also thought that not all of the exporters -though all great- are identical, and a modelling application has in some cases many more features than another (i simply think about 3dsMax modifiers and UV mapping, which SketchUp still can't handle), so perhaps including ALL the users in ONE group would be a little "unfair".
This could be avoided by subdividing the competition between the different SW: in this way ALL 3dsMax user should be able to add displacement to a map, and so on..
So, that's all..
What do you guys think about it?
