Thank you Ono !

For some reason the checker test scene looks quite blurry when I render it using the default settings. Does this kind of sharpness comes after a while when there are enough samples? I waited till 800+ samples, but it still looked blurry. Sure wasn't as sharp as the example images. Rendering time too short?

What super sample factor did you use?
Can you post the render?

Added link to 64 bit build to first post.
Note that EXR support is still disabled for 64 bit build.

I used the defaults that came with the zip. I just unpacked the zip and rendered the checker_antialias_test.igs
I think the SS is 2 in the ini?
Don't have the image at work and I'm currently on a very slow workstation.

[edit]
There is also a chance, that my eyes were playing tricks on me. :) I've been working long lately and it was also very late yesterday. Those checker patterns can transform into a monster late at night. I will test it again today.

Ok. I know from where the blurriness comes from.
It's the aperture diffraction. If I turn it off, then the output is clear and sharp, but with a.diff on it's kind of blurry.
Is it normal? Is that what a.diff does?

Yes, aperture diffraction will cause blurring like that, but only with very small apertures.

I would agree with Nik, because from my POV it overrides the f-stop.
As far as I can tell it changes the aperture size like f-stop does.

Am I right Nik? :?

Hmm?
aperture diffraction is an effect that causes a diffraction pattern on the camera sensor, due to (wave) diffraction through the camera aperture. The smaller the aperture, the greater the diffraction.

p.s. Change your bug animation Psor or I'll ban you  :)
