Does the space necessarily have to be used? I think not.
No, but one of the most basic principles of graphic design is that too much white space creates a bland mood and impedes visual interest. "Simple is more" doesn't mean you can take a huge canvas and stick a dot on it and call it "elegant in it's simplicity." Not all of of the space has to be used but more of of it definitely should be. What's your major, buddy?
I think your too much white space is actually called white sheet of paper, because white space is as much important if not more then positive space, and you know, white space doesn't have to be white at all...

Way to contribute to the thread, chunky.

Please go take a class on graphic design. Negative space can be an important design element, but that doesn't mean that you can just slap down a blank canvas and be done with it.

OK! I have been waiting for this moment for an exceptionally long time. I think its time... yes.

@Neo0:

You have absolutely no clue about graphic design, bandwidth usage, aesthetics or the definition of WIP. Possibly the most hideous suggestion for a side nav bar i've ever seen. I also made a few in my younger days, they were also hideous, but i kept my fails to myself instead of posting to the world and preaching about the rules of design.

You are perhaps the laziest peon in the land, with posts like this: http://www.indigorenderer.com/forum/vie ... =24&t=5460 and this (links to current post. infinite loop ensues, wormhole opens, internet breaks) under your belt i think the, normally kind and loving, members of the indi forums are finding it very difficult to take you seriously. Try work things out without a forum thread, believe it or not it helps you develop into a better person, much like spinach or your first taste of rejection. Use the brain you have, it's a winner, just needs regular exercise. We dont mind helping you, but it would be nice to see you put in a little effort.

Flaming people who are making valid points about your fail and are trying to prevent further embarrassment on your part is a big nono. Listen to the people you are CONSTANTLY asking to help you. I have no clue how old you are, but your holding a torch in your facebook profile pic so im guessing not very, you have lots still to learn, take this the right way please.

If you have nothing valuable to add to the forums, don't add anything, deviantart forums are the place for topics on shaving and girlfriends. Off topic posts in general need some relevance to the community. This is and always will be a business orientated site.

Sorry for the flame, it had to be done.

regards
mat

ps. mark will always be spam king, all hail.

Been there done that, so tell me exactly what blank canvas are you talking about? Perhaps you have an extra wide screen otherwise I think we aren't talking on the same subject, for sure.
