Paris Austerlitz Train Station
Paris Austerlitz Train Station
Hi
I am posting here for you this image, it is still not finished (needs peeps and train wagons etc...). It is The paris Austerlitz Train Station on which i did my architect diploma project.
I am rerendering them with indigo 2.2.5 for the fun and to build my portfolio and gallery.
To explain the project in minimum words, the idea is to build with the void to make the space crystal clear to anyone, because if anyone of you know this train station today, instead of this huge void i created, there is a parking and it is soooo dark and dirty, and the interior of this station is extra supra messy... complicated project.
I ll post Exterior views too when they will have rendered again.
I hope you like it. I ll post the other views when they will be finished.
Any comments and crits welcome, since i m gonna retexture a lot, and add a lot of stuffs on it! your ideas are all welcome!
To understand the project : The highest stuff with the big cross stucture is the Metro built in 1906, the trains are at the background of the image, and the grey stuff in the down centre is the RER (another type subway/train) which rails were built in ~1909 to join Orsay train station (Musée d'orsay today). Technically, the aim of this project was to solve the intermodality problem : going from one mode of transport to another the easyest way possible, knowing that later, even if technologies will enter in count too (tickets, SMS tickets, GPS tickets, etc...) the human will always have its place to help/inform other users!

Re: Paris Austerlitz Train Station
Looks good.. how many triangles?
Re: Paris Austerlitz Train Station
Here are some views from the outside done with 1.1.18 by the time.
and the same view rendered a bit longer.
@Ono : How many triangles? dunno, gonna watch the 3D model, but really many many!
the Skp file (withouth HD textures) is 25Mo big i had a lot of trouble rendering it because it used a lot of my tiny computer memory
i know there is somthing loke 2500 trees, 200 benches, 300 people, 50 wagons... i m very impressed of what indigo could have rendered, because i know many renderers i used before which would have done too big files, and crashed...

Very impressive!

I second it all, and what a challenge !Camox wrote:Great, that is awesome stuff. The penultimate two fallen from a bird's eye me best.

Re: Paris Austerlitz Train Station
thanks! i m glad you like it. The hardest part was to think about the project!!modelng was a bit hard too,but once it s done, indigo does the rest!
Re: Paris Austerlitz Train Station
When I saw your first interior render, I was far from thinking you had modeled such a huge exterior too ! Having such a big geometry not rendered probably kills your render time, but who cares, it would probably take you a lot of time to split your scene in smaller parts to render.
The render I like the most is the night one, very impressive.

Re: Paris Austerlitz Train Station
Really amazing render! Keep working on it or so - it really is beautiful. Maybe we could help sponsor you to get a flythrough renderered?
Re: Paris Austerlitz Train Station
hi
yeah sure i ll work on it! i d really like a flythrough (i wish i had one when i did my presentation
)! Actually i m cleaning it and making it less bugged to make better images than what i had done before.
@Stur : The exterior is on another layer (trees, buildings etc...) so when i do interior scenes i turn them off in general, but when i need i turn them on, because the aim of the project was to make the big hall "transparent" so that the inside is visible from outide and the outside visible from the inside. I ll post a new image to show that.

Re: Paris Austerlitz Train Station
here are some more images
i m still working on it, i noticed that there were lots of geometries in doubles making it heavy and buggy
i ll add the peoples and furniture and textures soon
tell me which tonemapping you prefer for interior, because i hesitate, one is less contrasted so we see more details, but the other one is more sexy imo.

Re: Paris Austerlitz Train Station
Really impressive scene, well done!
Done any more work on it so far?
Looking forward to seeing some more of it !!!
May I ask you what kind of computer/graphic card you use to be able to run the render?
You must have a hell of power behind it!

Hi Madcoo
I have posted the progress on my main post http://www.indigorenderer.com/forum/vie ... f=3&t=6596
Unfortunately i have only my laptop, core 2duo T7700 @ 2.4 Ghz, Nvidia Geforce8600GTM 256Mo and 2 Go Ram. I wish i could buy some new computer soon.
All the trees and buildings are instances and proxies int he SKetchup model, that s why it is so easy, and that s why i love indigo ! It can allow poor students making No limit scale models!
Thanks for the comments!

Re: Paris Austerlitz Train Station
I'm sure if you ask nicly a lot of people would like to help you rendering your final renderings with licensed Indigo version in high res... since this is for your diplomadjegoo wrote:Unfortunately i have only my laptop, core 2duo T7700 @ 2.4 Ghz, Nvidia Geforce8600GTM 256Mo and 2 Go Ram.
