problem with skindigo on mac

Post by AtomAnt » Fri Nov 07, 2008 7:06 am

after getting mad half day to find out where i had to put the skindigo files (if someone wanna know: /Library/Application Support/Google sketchup6/sketchup/plugins and NOT in the plugins folder inside the sketchup package) i've got another problem I couldn't solve:

after running sketchup skindigo start but there is no way to see the html interfaces for render settings and material editor.

everything else is somehow working (some problem with paths in export because OSX in paths use "/" instead of "\", and no chance to render directly (i think is a problem that can be solved by making the script run indigo.exe trough darwine and as I'll have some spare time I'll make it and share it)

If anyone can help me I'll be really grateful...

skindigo on mac

Post by dr_ » Mon Dec 01, 2008 12:17 am

I did not come so far on my mac (leopard).

could you post how you make indigo.exe run on leopard?

here is what i did try already, using SkIndigo 1.1.12
1. I did install the plugin, and located indigo.exe.
It seems to work in SU but has no dialogs rendering ("Could not load Mozilla. HTML rendering will be disabled.") at all,
so I can't edit settings and view materials.
2. If i try to export it seem to do it, but then I get igs file butin wrong locaton, it seems to have some problem with path: instead of r.igs in Desktop i get Desktop\r.igs in home folder.
3. It does not render from inside sketch up.

After i did try:
4. run indigo via wine (indio 1.0.9 wine 1.0.1) it starts, start rendering then stops.
5. run indigo_console.exe via wine, it works correctly, it can handle igs files created in windows but not the one in mac for a "path" problem
6. the trick to substitute the path to indigo.exe with indigo_console.exe did not change the situation.

any hints?
What version of skindigo and indigo and wine do you use?

I don't think SkIndigo will work on Mac unless you are running bootcamp or something like it. However, it might work on a Mac with SU7

sorry_ after longer google search i've found the version number 7
(today in italy not yet available from official site) from http://www.macupdate.com/download.php/1 ... hUpMEN.dmg

So downloaded and installed, installed again the plugin (did try SkIndigo_1_0_9 and SkIndigo_1_1_12) and does not work, exactly in the same manner...no interface...

I did update wine installation adding gecko (mozilla) via winetricks..

All these great pieces of software coming to mac, that's really impressive. Thanks benn and ono and all of those working at this.
