When is the new Blendigo out as the 2.0.6 is driving me nuts

Post by Doug Armand » Tue Jun 23, 2009 12:46 am

I can't find where 2.0.6.0/1 is placing the default.igs meaning that I can't resume a render.

The 'default.igs' button no longer seems to work.If selected I presume it creates a default.igs but where it saves it I have no idea, and no its not in "C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Indigo Renderer" as thats where the .igs and .png files now get saved. It's not in the folder that Indigo itself is in. So where?. Deselecting the 'default.igs' button doesn't seem to do anything either.

And why am I forced to find my .igs/.png files in "C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Indigo Renderer". There appears to be no way of setting the save location? anymore. I know windows reasonably but have rarely had a need to go burrowing down into those areas which btw by default are hidden from users and so won't be very new user friendly. Most pros I know are using separate drives for the their data because if we have to reinstall windows, which does happen from time to time:oops: , most of that stuff in the C:\Users\UserName\ directories will probably get wiped.

Sorry but I have just had to restart a render that had been going for 30 hours and could not find a way of resuming it so am a bit p%$ssed off and needed to vent!

Hi, Doug!

As far as I know, Blendigo saves the IGS in c:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Temp\
And the default name is blendigo-export.igs

It's like this in Vista :)

Hehe why so it is - any 5 year old could have found it!

Any idea why this is in c:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Temp\ and the rest is saved in c:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\Indigo Renderer\ ?
and why we have no control over it? I expect the reply will be that this is standard programming practice but for me it is just stupid - preferred the old way

Thanks again for that - might have saved me a few grey hairs :D

Doug:

If you click on the 'default.igs' button and press render scene.. it'll ask for a filename to save the render to before it renders - then you'll know where it is.

What would the best behaviour be? We can add a button that opens a finder / explorer window pointing at the .igs file if that would help?

Ben - This is the problem - in previous versions Blendigo did ask - now it seems to do nothing.

I would be quite happy if it did what it did before, ie if the 'default.igs' button is unselected/pressed then Blendigo asks for a name and location to save the igs. This to me would be best practice and gives full control to the end user.

fyi - deselect default.igs in the new build and it'll ask for a filename to save to :)
