Request for light layers
Request for light layers
Would it be possible to also adjust the color of the light, in addition to the intensities?
Re: Request for light layers
Hey neo0,
That's what the xyz parameters are for. They can be thought of as RGB parameters - they are from this colorspace:

He did catch the flu so he's sick. And he is thinking that neo is sick too, cause he asksBorgleader wrote:?matsta wrote:*cough*
for something that is already there. And since neo saw the new features of Maxwell 2.0
he thought it might be good to have those too.

Well, ok.. Now that you mention it, I see it, but maybe a color preview for the resulting color from the 3 coordinates? All im saying is that it might be hard for a new user to get the color they are looking for quickly..

+1
That's a good request, so the color seeking is over.

Re: Request for light layers
It's quite a different thing, this has the same results as if it was rgb, currently is as difficult as it as if you exchanged the xyz letters by rgb. If you tweak the units you see the same change you would if you were used to RGB. So you aren't exactly of new users, you're targeting those who never stared at a rgb slider before, for those it might a bit daunting to understand how adding a color works.neo0. wrote:Well, ok.. Still I would second your suggestion, so that one can have a rough estimate at least, since this xyz system is way more precise then a 256 color wheel can haver menage to be.

Re: Request for light layers
Well then, what if your layer has colored light or even better, a texture as light already?
The RGB field would be kinda super-useless then

Re: Request for light layers
Is there some reason why the color selection has to be so nebelous (yep, I just did use that word).. Why not just make it straight forward?
Re: Request for light layers
I don't see a reason for that. Nobody did ask for it ...
And if the emitter has a texture the color selection could shift the hue.

Okay! Then tell me... my emitter is exported as blue, the RGB field is set to show yellow in the GUI... what is the final color of that layer then?!psor wrote:I don't see a reason for that. Nobody did ask for it ...

I can't tell at first glance ^^

Erm, ... you're kidding me don't ya?!PureSpider wrote: Okay! Then tell me... my emitter is exported as blue, the RGB field is set to show yellow in the GUI... what is the final color of that layer then?!

1. Why should an emitter that is exported blue be shown as yellow in the Light-Layer? Indeed that would be futile.
2. If you have a textured emitter and will shift the hue like in any image editor where is the problem?
Maybe I don't get ya, then you've to make your self more clear mate.
edit: Take a look at LuxRender's lightgroups, Maxwell's Multilight, fryrender's ...

Re: Request for light layers
Your light is exported blue -> XYZ = 0 -> white RGB preview...
Now you want to make your light yellow... what to set your sliders to, then?
Set them so that the field is yellow? Fail.
