Well i think the compo is a little boring on this one. Rotate your camera (on the z axis) to the right a bit so that the jug isnt quite so centered (a render where the subject of your render is centered usually makes for boring composition, or so my photography teacher tells me, and on that point i tend to agree). I would also add some sort of kitchen wall not too far behind and a more yellow lighting (daylight/dusk)

I think the plane looked better too - focused more on the jug, and also - water jugs don't belong on the floor. :D

Limes rock! :-D
Yours are looking so beautiful, matsta!

I didn't use SSS yet, but I will have to. Due to my light setup, my limes cast and receive too much shadow... that's why they look so odd.

@fused:
I have absolutely no idea how to use SSS; I think I'll solve it with a blend material, of course... hm.
Can you tell me anything about Cindigo material conversion and SSS?

Yeah, I will definately have to change the light setup to something more subtle, more focused on the bottle but the window.

Hm, I think I know where my problems come from.
What material do you use for glass and water? "specular" or "glossy transparent"?
In my case, the glass and the water in junction cause too many shadows on the limes.
Can anyone give me a hint how to achieve such clear materials like matsta?
And matsta, did you place the water mesh between the glass mesh or inside?

also: limes aren't spherical

zeitmeister, there's some crunchy aliasing in your image - a bit more image supersampling or less photoshop sharpening would do the trick.

I think it's the lights in he's case that makes it look so clear, and because we see the image quite right on, so the refraction dosnt seam like it's so much.
But there may be another explanation :P

Hm.
With SSS they do come out a little bit better, but only if I render without the water.
Can anyone give me a hint what material you use for water?
I used all the real refraction indices according to the tables that go around the net...

A little preview of my inner lime material...
2 blend materials, blend-, diffuse- and bumpmap with diffuse transmitter instead of real sss.

Working pretty well at the material preview scene, but not in my water jug scene...
I really got major lighting problems. :-(
It seems like the diffuse transmitter material doesn't work proper inside the water material; a simple specular transparent. It absorbs too much of the light... hm.
