New material database online for testing...

Post by benn » Fri Jun 05, 2009 6:01 pm

Hey all,

The new material database is online for testing:

http://www.indigorenderer.com/materials/

Please paste your bugs in here and if all goes well we'll make the material database open to everyone next week.

Mats exported from Cinema are giving me:

Code: Select all

The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

..on IE7.
Is it something that can be fixed?

The "View Source" option is awesome!
Maybe you should go online with this now, because the old mat_db isn't online any more... and I need hints for SSS. :-)

Here you go:
http://www.indigorenderer.com/materials ... iew_source
http://www.indigorenderer.com/materials ... iew_source

I think it's the non-ascii "e" character in the end of the Yves last name. Firefox shows it as a strange question mark with a black background, but IE is maybe making a validation for illegal characters or something.

It'd be good if people tested commenting, favourites and uploading materials too :)

Posted comment for the first material. Worked Ok.
Voted 1 star for it. Worked Ok.
Went back and edited my comment. When I hit the "Save changes" button after editing my comment I got:

Code: Select all

The page you were looking for doesn't exist.

You may have mistyped the address or the page may have moved.
Tried to edit again twice and still got the same error.

Deleting the comment worked OK.

One minor wondering.
If you pick the 1st material from the opening page, then the NEXT button under browse material section is empty and PREVIOUS shows the mat that's next on the front page. I get, that the logic is, that a material added last is the newest and all other mats are actually older, meaning previous materials. But it somewhat wasn't very intuitive for me. Most of us are reading from left to right. So if you pick the first material from the opening page, then I would have expected, that the NEXT button takes me to the next material. In current case the buttons should be labeled "Older" and "Newer", but not NEXT and PREVIOUS.

Confusing? Any thoughts on this? Maybe swapping the current PREVIOUS with the current NEXT would be a good idea?

I still get the error on IE7. Xml page stops right after the Yves Coll so it still doesn't like that Frensh e at the end,

Finally assign the right users back to their mats :D
And replace the windows \r\n with a single line break in the View source mode!

Just tried voting and commenting under Safari 4 Beta. Both worked fine.
