What CPU are you using for Indigo?
Written Wednesday 5 Aug
Indigo is a CPU-intensive renderer and it is a case of the more memory and the more (CPU) cores you can throw at the scene, the faster you will get your results. A quick look at our licencing system shows the top 4 cpus that commercial users of Indigo work with:
- Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU
- Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU
- Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU
- Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU
The core 2 quad is by far the most popular choice, and we expect the Core i7 to climb up this list over time (Indigo can use 8 native threads at once on a core i7). In other news - sales from the Indigo 2.0 stable announcement are way up, so if you want to purchase a lifetime licence, the time is now.
