Sketchup dusk/sunset help

Post by pattybeetle » Tue Jun 15, 2010 9:07 am

I'm trying to render an outdoor rooftop scene, but I want the sky to look like dusk. Is there anyway to make a gradient background? I tried just making it black, but I don't want night time. Help!

Post an image of the look you're going for. Dusk could either be red/orange or blue or purple or a bunch of other looks. Dusk can look very different so clarify a bit.

As a start, try using a blue/grey color or make whatever kind of gradient in Photoshop/Gimp and use it as a background.

Here's a picture of what it should look like. http://deepcut.com.ph/images/2008041917 ... y_dusk.jpg How can you put your own background into sketchup? because that would be awesome. Would the sunlight take on the color of the background as well?

There is a rather easy way to do a sunset:
1. turn sun/sky back on
2. Window > Shadows
3. Change the time of day to late afternoon/dusk.
Done!

1.To put sky and sun on different layers.
2.set time to a late afternoon time.
2.In renderer, choose the Light layer, set the sky layer a low master gain value and also the sun layer a low master gain
3.you will get the sunset result.
:D
