Indigo Error material 'wire' after the export.

Post by Gattotondo » Wed Jul 16, 2008 8:27 am

Hi to all!
I found this problem in the 0.9 release with maxigo on max 2008 and now with 1.09 release with maxigo on max2009 design...
This problem make me crazy and i didn't find any solution...

every time export everything well and before render it, in the withe window, show this message, generally do it with my models (often poly with turbo smooth) but if i convert it in mesh do it again since i delete that model. So I think it depend from my mesh... But WHY?

just a couple of questions more: max's camera with 'clip' planes can work? max's camera with 'camera correction' modifier can work?

Thanks to everybody for any help, I attached a mesh with that problem (the legs maybe...). in max 2009 Design.

Hey,

I can't check your file, cause I don't have Max 2009, but do you have Indigo material applied to the model? Wire_mat is generated, when mesh has no Indigo material.

Answers to you camera questions are no and no.

Of course I assign a indigo material, the base diffuse one...
The file is just a table with the legs poly with a turbo smooth modifier...
Now I tryed again, I thought too about the material, but now it render the model if I reduce the step of turbosmooth.... I mean, if the mesh is too subdivided, it don't render it... Ok, now I can modify the geometry or reduce the step of subdivision, but is there a way to export a complex mesh model? Sure yes, I saw many complex models rendered in Indigo...
And why give to me a material error if it depend by the mesh?

Anyway thank you for the reply, Suvkas. Hope to solve it couse I'd like to play with your engine much more!

I tryed to export as 'obj' but the error comes after the export, so the 'export mode' seems don't affect it. Maybe it can help you.

Can you export the scene to obj format from Max File menu?
Then I could import it to my version of 3ds Max.

Hi Suv, you don't need the obj model, couse I made many tests with various model (stanford thai statue/ asian dragon) and I found that any model up than 65000 polys will not exported (with that same error). Down that 64000 polys it will do it. It export with/without material assigned too.

It do it on max 2008 and 2009, with windows 32 and 64 bit, and with 4 GB ram (so I think that it isn't a ram problem) don't know on max9, never tryed on it.

It's strange that max's users here didn't find this problem, maybe something set bad in my max preference??? (memory, something like this...)

:(

Hi,

I delete the various version of indigo, download the latest stable 1.09.3 and maxigo 1.09.6 and tryed it on max 9/2008/2009 on windows 32bit 2GBram
with the same scene.

with this indigo version, no problems with max 9 and 2008, with max 2009 the 'wire error' comes again. Expecially, I exoprted in 'auto' mode, and in max 9/2008, just make its work in the 'white-dialog window(the befor the final rendering window) in max 2009, open a 'obj gray window' before start the white one... and after show the export in this gray window, when the white one is working, the message error comes...
Hope to explain well, sorry...

Anyway, the error it's the same and i must transform the mesh down than 65000 faces to can render it. But now just in max 2009 and 1.09.3

I don't have Max 2009 so if it is not working in 2009, then there is nothing I can do about it.
64 000 seems like the maximum poly count supported by *.3ds format. Seems like you can't export to obj format for some reason. Please try to export to obj from File menu and let me know if it works from there. Ok?

I don't understand the "white - gray" part of your story. Can you explain it a bit better?

ok, I alredy tryed to export to obj from file MAX, and it export the scene good.
Yes, for some reason it can't export from indigo...

The story of white/gray, is this: in max 9/2008, when I push 'export' button from indigo, start a windows with white color that show what and how indigo is exporting(scrolling)...After that, start the final rendering.
in max 2009, when I push 'export' button from indigo, start a window with gray color called 'obj export' before the white windows (it seems like(or the same) the 3dsmax window obj export from file...)... I don't know why only in max 2009... after that start the window/white/scrolling dialog and in scrolling, when arrive the bad mesh, it show the error...

I assure you that my italian is good almost how my english is bad... :)

Tryed again...
No way for me to export anything much bigger than 65000 faces(poly) with 3dsmax 2009 32bit/ 3dsmax 2009 64 bit with the latest indigo for 32 and 64 bit and the latest maxigo.

And yes, the gray windows that start after the export botton push in indigo, is the same window that show max when you export a model or a scene from 'file' menu. Called 'exporting obj'.

I know that i can export scenes from 2009 and import in 2008 and render with indigo, just very easier do it directly on 3dsmax 2009.

Anyway thank you for this amazing free engine.
