It starts now, it recognizes GPU but render crash with GPU. With CPU works fine.
Any specific driver number I need to install? I am using 361.46, which is latest for this Ubuntu. But I am not using
edgers apt so there might be newer.
This is only output I get in terminal after crash.
Code: Select all
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'PlatformUtils::PlatformUtilsExcep'
Aborted (core dumped)

silly "bug"
on cpu mode "F5" and update image button works well
on gpu mode they don't update s/px number.

The two rendering modes work differently, the GPU mode works in whole-image passes, and so it's actually correct/accurate that the s/pix of the displayed image doesn't change until the pass is completed.
In future we'd like to show more frequent updates, eg tiles/buckets as they are being rendered, and updating the Ms/sec.

They work, but they don't update if you load them into the GUI directly. Unless you uncheck and recheck GPU rendering. I have reported this to the devs already.

When I change from a simple scene made from only diffuse materials to even only one phong material it gives me:
OpenCL build program failed. Build log:
ptxas error : File uses too much global constant data (0x15988 bytes, 0x10000 max)

Hi.
Test over double sided thin material.
v3.8.33 4h 11m 3670spp 0.169s/s. SS 4.
v4.0.31 2h 30m 4120spp 0.364s/s. SS 4.
v4.0.31 9h 25m 16250spp 0.364s/s. SS 10.
Brave about the speedup with double sided thin material. Odd about the noise...

[BUG] V4.31
Bug is present in the texture editor (?) some file types are recognized some don't.
Can't get a preview inside text editor even with lower gamma setting, sometime.

Originalplan: could be the issue mentioned above by neo0, maybe try changing a render setting (eg OpenCL off and back on) to see if it takes effect?
Would be good to get a list of stuff that doesn't refresh like this

Will try it.The problem seems to be very random...Normal maps etc are displayed correctly.
Exponent maps and emission maps sometimes don't.

aside from the other OSX problems people have been seeing (I have the same lackluster results for GPU rendering that others have shown) I am wondering about the "app nap" feature that was introduced in Mavericks. you are able to selectively disable it on most apps, but I don't see the option with Indigo 4, see the screengrabs attached. I have a feeling that this is interfering with render performance when I leave something to run overnight, for example. any insight?

Weird that it's missing. Having a look why.
in the meantime you should be able to set it like so on terminal:
defaults write com.glare.indigo NSAppSleepDisabled -bool YES
Actually not sure if it's com.glare.indigorenderer, or com.glaretech.indigo, or any other variant

thanks, yeah I found the terminal commands for this.
also, looking into it a bit more, it seems that it's possible now for developers to include code that will prohibit app nap all together, and that check box won't appear. so maybe you guys have already prevented the app nap in this version somehow.
I'll have to see how it runs tonight. maybe there's some other factor I'm missing.
