Intermittent Windows 7 installation error
Intermittent Windows 7 installation error
I'm trying to install Indigo 2.0.12c 32-bit build on Windows 7, but
"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail."
I'm running Win7 Ultimate 32-bit on an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5600+ with 4GB and miles of free disk space.
What am I doing wrong?
For what it's worth, the 2.2 beta drops the same error.

Re: Intermittent Windows 7 installation error
I get this error on my fiance's machine at home as well, I have tried to uninstall / reinstall a few times, using install file for 3.4 stable released last week. For what it's worth, installation ran fine on my machine, using exact same installer.
Her machine: Win7Pro x64, i7 930, 8 GB RAM, GTX 280
My Machine: Win7Pro x64, i7 950, 12 GB RAM, GTX 580
Hoping to get a resolution so I can use her machine as a render node...

Re: Intermittent Windows 7 installation error
I think this error could happen if you've manually copied DLL files around the system, eg into Windows/System32. Certainly the right DLLs are packaged with Indigo in the local directory, so this kind of conflict shouldn't happen if there aren't other conflicting DLLs hanging around.
Re: Intermittent Windows 7 installation error
hmmm, OK, don't know then, certainly have not copied DLL's around...
Re: Intermittent Windows 7 installation error
So how do I fix this? Any ideas? Do I have to do a repair installation of the OS or what?

Re: Intermittent Windows 7 installation error
Please try installing the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package".
32 bit: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... px?id=5582
64 bit: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... px?id=2092
This should fix the problem.
Kind regards,
Yves

Re: Intermittent Windows 7 installation error
Sorry, my bad. The installer I posted first also work (and contain the needed dlls included in the installers I posted second) and are recommended to be used over the second links (that installer has an issue with leaving temporary files around on the C: drive).

Yves
