Yeah ... Haven't found the proper balance just yet. This
may sound strange to you, but I'm confident rendering offers far more possibilities than 'merely' emulating photography. Mind you, I'm not saying trying to achieve photographic quality is a bad thing - there's certainly valid reasons why one would try to do so. I am just pointing out rendering as such is a autonomous medium.
