manitwo: I dont know about turning off caustics, Indigo is all about acurate (unbiased) light simulation. That would introduce bias and defeat Indigo's purpose, IMHO.
Want i want above all else would be SSS. I use 3 renderers: Blender internal, Yafray and Indigo because they are the easiest free renderers to use with Blender. But none of them has SSS and its something i miss terribly.
From my own experience, i see that most CG stills look CG because of two things mainly. First, the absence of what i like to call "random irregularities" like a random scratch on a surface, a tiny bit of rust on nails, etc. Things you always find in real life but that are almost impossible or too tidious to simulate in CGI. Second, the absence of SSS.
So many things need SSS in order to look realistic, without SSS they look fake or lifeless. Here is a short list of things i can think of that need SSS:
-Human skin
-Milk/cream
-Solid wax
-Cloth
-Paper
-Porcelain
-Plant leaves
-Plastics
-Dense fur
-Meat
-Fruits
-Foam
-Marble
-Pearls
-Etc.
So to summarize, me wants SSS
