P4 3Ghz HT are the first cpu's for intel with SSE3 I think.
I tought also that all the 64 compatible cpu's are SSE3.
Rendering indigo with non SSE2 cpu's (pentium2 ?), hummm, can wait a long time before seeing something !
SSE2 is a must have I think, SSE3 would be better but it wouldn't work for a lot of people using older computers ...
Blender builds with SSE2 are about 50% faster than official ones for ex !

The final stepping of the P4's support sse3, almost all 64bit capable CPUs are sse3 compliant. the only ones that arent are some of the Anthalon 64 (dont remember which stepping got the full sse3), and some of the Anthalon FX cards (again, not sure when it got it). All the Anthalon X2 series has sse3. , Pentium D and up has it (who cares about Itanium realy
), and i believe thats the size of it.
Yes i know, my spelling sucks

Let's make this ultra clear:

For the fun of it, could we make a poll asking who has SSE3 capability?Wikipedia wrote: CPUs supporting SSE2
* AMD K8-based CPUs (Athlon 64, Sempron 64, Turion 64, etc)
* Intel NetBurst-based CPUs (Pentium 4, Xeon, Celeron, Celeron D, etc)
* Intel Pentium M and Celeron M
* Intel Core-based CPUs (Core Duo, Core Solo, etc)

I copy/pasted directly from Wikipedia including the title where it says "SSE" so ...unless whoeer wrote the pages switched them up, it should be good.eman7613 wrote:Its a list of minimum supporting architecture, the SSE2 list actually encompasses more.pixie wrote:I would go SS3, there are clearly more computers supporting it
EDIT: Actualy, I think those lists are switched...
