[Req] Material guide

Post by neo0. » Tue Aug 26, 2008 3:51 pm

It would be nice to have a guide for beginningers with an overview of each properties (what they are, a few examples, etc.)

Then maybe a few examples of real world materials, plastic, rubber, etc and how to create them.

Speaking of materials, the db is kind of lacking in them.. If someonw told me how to convert kt mats into idnigo, i'de gladly do a ton.

Well of course theres the Indigo manual you could look at. The indigo/blender tutorial page is also very well documented and contains a lot of images and settings so that would definitely be useful. A LOT of people ask around on the forums for different material settings so, searching the forum before making a thread is ALWAYS a good idea.

On top of that, you can always head over to the maxwell renderer website, their documentation is also quite impressive. Again lots of pictures over there, and yeah. Oh and I do think there are quite a few indigo related threads over at blenderartists.org.

As far as making a beginner guide for materials, that is a LOT of work. Due to the shear amount of settings for each different type of material and the blend type which opens even more possibilities.

That indigo manual is mostly technical reference. Coding friendly, but not artist friendly.
