Well, I added this mat, but everyone I have shown it to seems to think it doesn't really fit with the room- not really what I was concerned with at the time. Anyway, I am thinking of wrapping this one up, just because I want to keep moving and maybe build a nicer/fuller room or an object next.

So I would certainly appreciate any comments that will help me better this scene in its last few stages.

Thanks,
Nathan

I think it's ok, it just lacks a fuller room or an object next to be reflected in :)
obsolete asset

I think it's ok, but it just doesn't seem to fit in the room... maybe keep it for another work?

Shrink the mat and put it on the table. Would be a shame to lose it.

Alright, so this is what it is looking like for the final render.

Any last minute suggestions are still appreciated. (will fix tonemapping in final render)

Ok, final version is here. This is a closed scene as far as I'm concerned:

Time elapsed: 143 h, 6 s
Done 8077840000.00000 samples (7888.51563 samples per pixel)
15691.01664 samples / second (63.73073 micro-seconds / sample)

I just noticed this, but only a total, absolute, first-timer noob gives a scene a name like 'room'.

Looks as if you added some 3D balls into a photo :D Except for the weird balls it is photorealistic to me. I don't see any flaw :D

Even the reflection is photo realistic, but the balls aren't xD

In retrospect, I should have bump mapped those. That might have more realistically achieved the effect I was going for.

But too late, because now I'm done fiddling with it. Time to mount another assault on this 'learning curve' thing.
