Schott Glass Material Library for Indigo 1.0.1+ * Updated *

Here is the final version of the Schott Glass Material Library complete with previews of every single material (approximately 8 days of rendering without pause).

Click here to download the library - includes a fix for one missing material and another incorrectly named

You can directly include this file into any .igs using the following code:

You can also use the included catalog PDF to make it easier to select a particular glass that might suit your requirements. There is one material per glass and the materials are named exactly as the glasses are so SF57 in the catalog = material name SF57 in the library.

This library will only work with Indigo version 1.0.1 and above as it uses the new tabulated data tag.

wow.... great work, not I get an Idea what this new function may be good for :)

So now tell me what glass could I take for a nice vase, a wine glass, a cola bottle or even a car window :?: :?: :?:

or is this library only "correct" for special prisms, lenses etc. ...
Maybe there exists an overall usable glass that looks nice/correct for everything?

I am currently running a test of SF57 on my crystal glass object as it looks from it's values to be a 'crystal' type glass; it contains lead and has a high base IoR, So far the test is looking pretty damn nice :)

I can't tell you off the top of my head exactly what to pick. I've done the hard work of converting this data to indigo materials now you can do the hard work of figuring out which one is best for what ;)

But basically if you are looking for a window glass then you would want one with a relatively low base IoR and high/uniform transmittance across the spectrum.

This glass stuff is so special... I've never known of most stuff their glass is used for.

window: low green absorption, quite high (relative to the green absorption, so, it's still low) blue.
red somewhere in between.

IoR 1.45-1.55 :)

SF57 test added to original post... It's a terrible 'shot' I know but it is just a test afterall. Screwed up the DoF big time :P Stupid DSCS315 camera... ;)
