Electronic Actuator

Post by matsta » Fri Oct 19, 2007 6:04 am

Hey guys

started up a thread under "off-topic" which had to do with modeling an electrical actuator, BbB showed some interest and managed to model the base, much thanks, not sure if he is going to complete his own but i am most definitely going to finish mine up, using the base that BbB posted. anyway after about 2 hours work today this is as far as i have gotten, in previous renders i added some crappy textures but i felt that the model looks better bare for the moment. helps render times aswell so for now i will leave it bare. I am definitely not the person for texturing this beast. a wide variety of textures are needed of which i can probably accurately duplicate 2. i was hoping to hand the model over to BbB once i was done with it for him to texture but im still not sure weather that is going to be possible "come in BbB".

below is my reference image and below that is my latest output featuring BbB's base (thanks again), still lots of work to come. i am really looking forward to getting this model complete and getting some textures on it :D

anyway thanks for all the kind words and help ono, kosmo and BbB.

Good job getting the two bits together. It's reallz beginning to look like the real thing. I'll leave you to it for now and go back to my effeminate interiors, but happy to do the texturing when you're done (if you're not in a hurry  )
Regarding the lighting setup, it's very simple: two big plane meshlights on either side, one with a slight blue, the other red, tint. Don't overdo it, though, or it'll look like the interior of 1970s disco. A very tiny bit of colour that's all.

Hey BbB

yea thanks alot for the compliments, and yay, will definitely hand it over to you for the texturing :D cant wait. there were some obvious differences between the reference and the model in the first uploaded image so i made some changes and will update in about 10 minutes.

once again thanks alot BbB

They are mainly numbers and letters, and anyway I'm certain you must be good at texturing too. Good work so far !

Fantastic job! Only the cables left to do, basically (ouch! I hate cables).
