Stompin: I'll play with the concrete floor and see if I like it as you say. Right now I fear it could feel a bit too neat. As for the blown out look, it's intended that way, so as to keep the focus on the interior. Granted, I haven't really mastered the look, but if you look there (www.boffi.com, look at collections, kitchens), you'll see what I'm aiming at.

Dude, I love the render.

The blown out effect is perfect.

we have a parquet kitchen :)

That image definitely looks very good :D
It looks like a "real" WIP, somehow, though^^

CTZn: All the edges are already bevelled. Resolution is probably too small. I'll post details next time.
Thanks Kram, ZSboy, I finally found a decent lighting setup. Cooking a hi-res version right now. Should be ready tomorrow (or after the weekend

OK, this took a long time but I'm still not happy with the lighting. Plus I get really weird bump map behavior on the three walls. It may be because the walls are blended mats or because of the grazing light. Anybody seen that before?

hmmm... yes that bump does look a bit strange sort of inside out or like a negative perhaps?
what is with the pattern in the blue outside?
nice image though....do you do vis for architects or is this just for you?

Thanks all. I guess if you look too long at sthing it gets hard to tell if it works or not. Regarding the bumps maps, yes, they do seem kinda like inside out or inverted somehow. No idea. It seems to happen whenever there is a very grazing light. Maybe it just shows the limit of bump as essentially an incorrect workaround.

Big Fan: This is very flattering but no, this is purely a hobby. I wish I could make money with CG, but it's not promising enough to persuade me to leave my day job, which is a completely different business altogether. Maybe one day
