Lookin' good. I'd either change the light angle or the camera angle and bake it to smoothness. I'd like to use it on my 3 ubuntu machines at home.

Well, PhilBo, I don't know if you use Blender or not, but I'll attach the blend file here and you can bake it for as long as you like in any position you want :D

That's very kind of you to share. I cannot tell by your tone, but I didn't mean to offend in my comments. I liked it very much. For it to become my default for my 3 systems, I'd just like to reposition it slightly.

I have two dual core machines networked and could bake this in its current state pretty quick if you'd like.

Absolutely no offence noticed or taken. Just happy to share. I'm sure you won't mind sharing your results back to us :D

Here's a stab at it. I moved the plane right under the logo. I had it render using the settings you had but it was rendering slower (and took longer to clean up) than if hybrid was turned off. I used the ennis.exr probe for the light source.

Well, I must say, PhilBo, you've made my model look exceptionally nice. Thanks. I'll download that and store it with my others (with your name in the filename, of course).

Just one crit, though. Maybe you could lower the blurring effect or move the focus of the camera so that the front of the logo isn't so blurred. (It still looks good like that).

Nice work :D

I'll adjust the camera blur, I didn't really like the way it came out in the end. I'm going to try some other light settings as well to make one warmer, one darker version, one with blue in it somewhere (to better match my blue themes :D )

I'll post more over the weekend.

PhilBo's version looks like Gummi worms or bears!

I love it!

And finally...

Post by DaveC » Fri Aug 31, 2007 8:48 pm

Ok. I think these ones are wallpaper-worthy. And, I think I'm done with these now. Here is the final final render of the ubuntu logo, with a couple of adjusted versions. The .blend was posted earlier in the thread if anyone wants it (without the little logo though).

I like that last one (a bit dark). I like the caustics and the fact that the red circle makes a nice shape in the orange curve. Cool, PhilBo.
