update of Blender tutorial needed

Post by Big Fan » Wed Aug 15, 2007 8:09 pm

ono says and I agree we should update the blender/indigo tutorial 8)
radiance kindly did one for v5 which got a lot of people rolling and there was an update for v7 but there it languishes..
I know there are a lot of blender users in the community and who are competant indigoists :D
are there any keen volunteers to do some writing for the benefit of the newbies I wonder?

thats ok some one else could tidy up the spelling and sentences afterward
but we need the content to begin with
dont worry if English is not your main language - also we made some translations before so there is no reason why the tutorials can't be done in German or Spanish for example first and then translated to English :)

I don't think I'd make a great tutorial but I'd be very happy to clean up anybody's English.

SmartDen,

based on your posts I believe you really would not have to worry about your English.
Anyway....if it continues to be a concern for you, you could write it in German and I translate it. That way we would have a tutorial in English and in German.
I moved from Germany to the US 11 years ago when I was 32 and I believe my English is reasonably well developed. Let you language skills not stop you!!!

All.

If there is interest for the translation of other tutorials into German, I'd be happy to help out.

I could maybe be of some help i think, i use Indigo much but i don't know everything about it like scripting and stuff, but i think we should explain more what everything does in the tutorials, like how to get caustics,. And we could do some sort of list what everything does, I had lots of problems getting into Indigo because i didn't knew what all the options did. Sorry for my somewhat poor english :).

ok thanks for your replies everyone - not a great response considering the number of blenderheads here but a start..
I guess we will wait to see what smartden ( thanks) comes up with and go from there
It would be a good idea to put a little more detail in this time so maybe we'll take up tweeby's offer too..and get davec to check it all over 8)
I would like to think we can find translators for English, French, Russian, Spanish, Italian and Japanese again and also perhaps German, Mandarin, Arabic, Hindi, Portuguese, Malay? which covers a whole lot of potential users out there :D

I'm not very knowledgeable about Indigo, I've only done about 5 renders and I'm still learning it. I have produced tech documentation and training materials before.

I can edit someone elses stuff who knows how to use indigo to its full effect, or I can get and edit screen grabs.

Or if someone who dosen't know English very well, puts together a version of the tut, I can edit it to 'production English' levels.
