Bidir on - off results

Post by joegiampaoli » Tue Aug 07, 2007 7:42 am

Rerendering this old scene both with exit portals one without Bidir and the other with Bidir, only thing is that Bidir gives me strange artifact on floor, any suggestions?

What's the impact of <max_num_consec_rejections> with bidir ? What value are you using (in case it's too low) ?
obsolete asset

I usually, independently of scene mode, use 10000, which is ten times the original standard in the ini and also blendigos maximum. :)

Well I tried setting it <max_num_consec_rejections> to 10000 it was at 100 and I practically got the same result, so I don't know what I'm doing wrong. :?

Doesn't look like a caustic, doesn't even have the right angle of any object in the scene in relation to the sunlight position. All I have in the window is the exit portal, glass pane, and shades.

The reason why I wnat to do this scene with bidir on is because it really is faster and with it off it just hangs after so many hours and the noise just doesn't go away, it could go on for days and the noise is still there......

I'd really remove the glass panes if I were you. I don't know that they add anything. They just seem to slow you down.

Ok, removed window-glass panes, doing it with bidir on and that strange artifact is gone. Thx, I will post results tomorrow....
